Why did you choose Michigan Tech?

I liked the number of undergraduates and the focus on engineering. My sister went to Tech so I knew how beautiful the area was.

What was your most memorable experience at Tech?

Joining Theta Chi Epsilon sorority led to lasting friendships and memories too numerous to count!!

How well did Michigan Tech prepare you for your career?

Tech prepared me very well by developing technical skills, time management for projects, and soft skills (presenting/interviewing, working with teams), to name a few.

What was your first job after graduation and how has your career progressed?

I started for Fort James Paper Mill in Green Bay, WI, as a Process Engineer. After a few years, I started with Procter & Gamble Paper Mill (across the train tracks!) and have worked there 17 years and counting. During that time I have held different roles in several departments: Bounce dryer sheets, the Boiler House, Papermaking, Charmin Converting, Bounty Converting, and Logistics. P&G has grown my leadership and technical skills.

Tell us about a few of your career highlights and notable achievements?

I led start-up of three different multi-million dollar converting lines. Since then, people come to me for coaching on how to lead an effective start-up. That feels good.

What advice on being successful would you give to Tech students and young alumni?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them and get better! Connect with your co-workers and learn from them too.

Would you share your philosophy of life?

Live life to the fullest. My husband and I take as many vacations as possible every year versus "waiting for retirement" because who knows what the future holds
