Jamie Linna
  • BS Business Administration 1999

Jamie Linna graduated from Michigan Tech in 1999 with her bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in management information systems (MIS). She accepted her first role with Dow Chemical as an IT analyst and has since spent 25 years working for three multi-billion dollar international companies while living and working in multiple sites across the US and overseas. Her last role was as a Senior Director of Deployment Services at ADM - a global agricultural company that processes, trades, and delivers nutrition products worldwide. Located in the Cincinnati area, Linna was accountable for the organization responsible for go-live planning and implementation of business solutions across multiple global manufacturing and business locations. She has recently retired and now focuses on supporting her family and volunteering.

While at Michigan Tech, Linna was an active and outgoing student within the College of Business. She enjoyed helping fellow MIS students, was a strong presence in the MIS student organization, and served as a facilitator at Tech’s LeaderShape® program, an in-depth four-day leadership development experience that is designed to help young leaders learn to lead with integrity. During her professional career, she also served as a campus recruiter for many years.

“The intensity of the courses and the diversity and interactions with talented professors and students helped me build resiliency, personal discipline, and a well-rounded set of technical,
business, and life skills that I’ve applied in many different professional roles in my career,” Linna
said.

From her first role with Dow Chemical to her current position with ADM, Linna’s career has taken her across multiple industries, geographies, and even continents. In 2005, she spent two years working for Dow Chemical in Shanghai, China, and returned to Shanghai in 2014 for another two years while working for Dow Corning. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “My professional career offered me the chance to work and live in multiple countries—but I still maintain my connection and visit the Houghton area multiple times each year because it's one of the most beautiful places that I've been to on the planet.”

Linna, who grew up in the Houghton area, has remained committed to making an impact at Michigan Tech by staying engaged and giving back. She is a founding member of the MIS Alumni Endowed Scholarship, which supports students pursuing careers in information systems, and she is also a member of the MIS Advisory Council. In addition to her support for Tech, Linna volunteers with her church and has facilitated financial literacy programs for graduating high school seniors.

“The education and experience I received at Michigan Tech have given me the opportunity to enjoy a very rewarding life and career,” she said. “Michigan Tech is an incredible educational offering to the local community, and I will always continue to stay engaged and offer support to students who choose to be a Husky.”

Linna will be inducted into Michigan Tech’s Presidential Council of Alumnae in November 2025.
