Gary Halverson

- BS Metallurgical and Materials Engineering 1981
Gary Halverson earned a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Michigan
                                          Tech in 1981. He is currently an Independent Consultant to the Mining Industry and
                                          resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was President and CEO of Cliffs Natural Resources
                                          from 2013-14 overseeing a Fortune 500 Company with coal and iron ore assets in the
                                          US, Canada and Australia. Prior to this he worked for Barrick Gold in a number of
                                          roles, President of Barrick North America overseeing their gold mines in the US, Canada
                                          and Dominican Republic, President of Barrick Australia Pacific with gold and copper
                                          mines in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Zambia and Saudi Arabia. Before Barrick he worked
                                          with Placer Dome in Nevada and Ontario. His early career involved working across Canada
                                          for a number of companies and projects, building and operating both open pit and underground
                                          mines.
In addition to being on a number of trade associations in various countries Halverson
                                          considers himself fortunate that he is able to help on some non-profit boards, most
                                          recently with Opportunity Village in Las Vegas.
