Michael Erickson is senior vice president / principal engineer at Arcadis. He is recognized as a national expert in sediment management and water quality modeling.   He started his career with LimnoTech, a specialty consultancy in Ann Arbor, Michigan, after completing his Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1995. In 2001, he joined Arcadis, a leading global A&E firm, and has advanced from senior engineer to senior vice president.  

In his role at Arcadis, Erickson leads teams addressing all aspects of design, engineering and construction of some of the largest, most complex contaminated sediment site remediation efforts in the United States. He is the engineer of record for projects totaling over $2 billion in construction costs. As an expert witness, he has provided testimony addressing water quality impacts of industrial discharges and accidental spills in lakes and rivers across the country. He has experience at over 130 riverine, estuarine, lake, and coastal sites nationally and internationally with a wide range of conventional and toxic contaminants.

Erickson has given back to his community by serving as vice chairman of the Houghton County Planning Commission and as a member of the Houghton County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. He has also served on the Professional Advisory Board for the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering Department. He is the proud father of two Michigan Tech alumni engineers, and his youngest son, Casey, is a junior in the MTU civil engineering program.

Erickson resides in Calumet with his wife, Carrie, and in his free time enjoys fishing with his grandsons, cross-country skiing, making maple syrup, and spending time at his cabin on Lac La Belle.
