Portraits

We invite Michigan Tech faculty, staff, and graduate students to schedule an appointment with us to get complimentary, studio portraits taken during the available appointment times each week. Appointment times will change each semester, but will always be offered on two different days of the week to maximize availability.

At the scheduled time, your portrait session will be in the UMC studio, Administration Building G37. The background is a neutral gray, and we will take a vertical and horizontal image. The appointments take roughly 5 minutes, and you will receive your image in an email five to seven days after the appointment.

Outdoor Portrait Session

In addition to weekly appointment slots for portraits, UMC hosts one outdoor portrait session per year in early September on campus. The sign-up sheet and location announcement will be available roughly one month in advance. You'll find updates here and in Tech Today. The background will be a scenic campus view.

Check back later for further information about the 2025 outdoor portrait session.

Non-Traditional Portrait Requests

UMC offers non-traditional portraits for high-impact external media, such as research award winners and student stories. You can request a non-traditional portrait session using our Studio Request Form. Be sure to list multiple options for scheduling to ensure our ability to accommodate your request.

While we are unable to offer our services to Undergraduate Students due to volume, free portrait sessions are usually sponsored by the Alumni Office during Career Fair.

If UMC is unavailable to help with your request, or it falls outside our scope and mission, we recommend looking at external vendors to find other potential options.

Group Portrait Requests

Group Photo Requests can be made through the same Studio Request Form, and availability is based on notice and priority. Priority is given to group photos with large external visibility and projects that enhance the University's recruitment and reputation initiatives. As with non-traditional portrait requests, please provide multiple options for scheduling to ensure our availability.
