Transfer Credit Information

Michigan Technological University maintains a full-time Transfer Services Office for new, current, and readmitted students intending to transfer courses to Michigan Tech.

Collegiate and non-collegiate sources of credit are evaluated as transfer credit when it has been determined that they meet accreditation standards, and that the student has demonstrated an acceptable level of performance in regard to the credit.  Transfer credit is granted for courses taken in which a grade of “C” (2.0) or better has been earned and where the courses are equivalent in content, length and prerequisites to the courses offered at Michigan Tech. Credit will also be given for grades of Pass/P for any courses taken during the spring of 2020 provided the  Pass/P grade is defined as a grade of C/2.0 or higher.

Incoming transfer students must submit an application for admission and official transcripts to the Admissions Office.

Current/former students who would like more information concerning course equivalency transfers to Michigan Tech from other colleges/universities may use the Transfer Course Equivalent link below.

Students wishing to transfer their final credits to complete degree requirements must obtain approval by completing the Degree Completion Transfer Form

In order to process incoming transfer credit, an official transcript from your transferring institution must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

Information to Remember

  • Upper-division (3000-4000 level) Michigan Tech course transfers require prior written approval from the appropriate department.
  • If any course that you plan to take off campus is a prerequisite for your next term on campus, please notify Transfer Services. We will enter a prerequisite waiver, so you may schedule your courses.
