Parade of Nations

The 32nd Parade of Nations 2021

Since 1989, the Houghton and Hancock communities have been celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the Keweenaw. We are excited to continue that tradition in 2021. This years them is:

The World is Calling!

Logo Contest:

From more than 50 entries, the Parade of Nations Committee has picked a design by Emma Riita Moilanen, a sixth grade student at Dollar Bay School. She received a $200 prize. Her logo features a personified globe saying "Hello" in many languages.

"Thank you so much for picking my design," Emma said. "I am very grateful and honored. I picked this design so I could show diversity using the different languages of the world. I am excited to see it used for the parade."

The committee also chose a design by Andre Cole to serve as the permanent logo for the Parade of Nations Committee. His logo features a globe filled with colorful flags of the world.  The logos represent the theme of this year's Parade of Nations: The World is Calling.

The Parade of Nations will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021; save the date!
