Develop the Critical Understanding to Protect Data and Applications

A single software vulnerability can expose sensitive information or compromise a computer network. Cybersecurity focuses on protecting computer systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, attacks, and other digital threats. As organizations rely increasingly on connected technologies, understanding how to secure these systems is essential. Cybersecurity is one of the fastest growing fields in the nation. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), between 2021 and 2031, the number of information security analysts is projected to grow 35 percent.

Michigan Tech's Foundations of Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate provides advanced knowledge of computer, network, and software security. Offered online and on campus, the program emphasizes the fundamental principles and methods used to identify vulnerabilities, protect digital systems, and develop secure applications. The National Security Agency has recognized Michigan Tech as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and Cyber Research (CAE-R)—making Michigan Tech the only university in Michigan to receive both the CAE-CD and CAE-R designations.

Who is This Certificate For?
