Power Motion With Fluid, Mechanics, and Control
What gives an excavator the force to lift a heavy load? Or allows automated equipment to move, grip, and position components with precision? In many systems, fluid power is part of the answer. Fluid power uses pressurized liquids or gases—hydraulics and pneumatics—to transmit and control power. In mechatronic systems, fluid power works alongside mechanical components, electronics, sensors, and controls to create increasingly sophisticated machines and automated systems.
Michigan Tech’s on-campus Fluid Power Mechatronic Systems Graduate Certificate helps you build expertise in fluid power, electrohydraulics, robotic motion, and system safety. Develop skills you can apply to the design, operation, and advancement of robotics and automated equipment.
Who is this Certificate For?
This certificate is designed for engineers and other technical professionals who want to strengthen their expertise in fluid power, robotics, and mechatronic systems. It can help you expand your capabilities in automation and motion control or build a foundation for continued graduate study.
Degree-seeking students can also use the certificate to develop a focused area of expertise within their graduate education.
What You Need to Know
Fluid power systems are used across applications ranging from heavy equipment to industrial automation. This 10-credit certificate combines fluid power with robotics, controls, and safety to help you analyze and work with integrated mechatronic systems.
You’ll develop skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronic controls; examine the kinematics and dynamics of robotic manipulators; and learn to evaluate fluid power components and systems with safety in mind. The curriculum also prepares you for professional certification in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic controls specialties.
