Semester Payment Plans

This plan has a $65 non-refundable enrollment fee with the first payment being one-fourth of your balance due. The link to enroll in the payment plan will be found on the Michigan Tech Student Bill available through Experience and must be submitted BEFORE the semester billing due date. Please see the chart below for the payment plan due dates.

Students must enroll in the payment plan each semester that they wish to participate.

Payments are calculated according to the amount the student owes less all financial aid.  All charges found on your student bill are included in your tuition payment plan EXCEPT for apartment rent.  

Rent payments are due according to your housing agreement and are not included in your monthly payment plan amount.

Payments due may not be equal amounts each month, as additional charges and credits could fluctuate the amount owed.  Please review your payment plan, found in PayMyTuition, to confirm the amount of each payment.

Yes, you will be charged a non-refundable $65 payment plan fee each semester when you enroll.  You may also be charged a processing fee depending on the type of payment method that you utilize.

Eligible students will see the words “Optional payment plan” towards the bottom of their student bill.  Students must enroll in the Payment Plan, Guests/Parents are not permitted to enroll for them.  Students will click on that link to be redirected to the PayMyTuition portal.  Students can access the directions on how to set up their payment plan through setting up a payment plan.  

No, Financial Aid cannot be used to make payment plan payments, this includes private loan checks. Payments are calculated according to the balance due after Financial Aid has been applied.

If additional financial aid is received prior to 5 days before the payment due date, the system will auto-calculate your payment due within 1 business day.  However, if additional financial aid is received within 5 days of the payment due date, that payment amount will NOT be adjusted, only future payments will be adjusted.

It depends on what the student has opted into.

When you enroll in the payment plan you will be given the option to set up scheduled automatic payments, if you are using a Domestic payment method.  The checking/savings account or credit card number that you set up with be used to automatically withdraw funds on your installment due dates.  The payment method you choose will be used for all scheduled payments.

International students can pay from a domestic financial institution or card to schedule their payments. 

* If you choose to not set up automatic payments, OR if you are an international student paying from a foreign financial institution or card, you are responsible for manually initiating your installment payments from the PayMyTuition Payment Center prior to each installment due date.  

If a payment is not received by the due date, a $25 late payment fee and account hold will be applied to the student account.  

We recommend that students schedule their payments for auto-withdrawal so that they don’t have to worry about logging in and manually making the payment.

If a payment plan installment payment is not paid by the due date, a $25 late payment fee and account hold will be applied to the student account. The account hold may prevent students from registering for future classes, requesting transcripts, seeing their grades and receiving their diploma.

Future payment plans may also be denied if the student defaults on their current plan. The student will be responsible for any collection costs associated with the collection of the account balance.

If a payment is rejected or returned, for any reason, a $25 non-refundable returned payment fee is applied to the student account.  This could also result in the student being removed from their current payment plan and denied from future payment plans.

If you would like to switch from one checking/savings account to another or switch from a credit card payment to a checking/savings account, you can add a new payment method within PayMyTuition’s Payment Center. You will need to create a new payment to access your saved Payment Methods, where you can add a new Payment Method and save it as the default. 

Yes, the best way to ensure that the payment is applied to the next payment on your payment plan is to set your parent(s) or other designated individual up as an Authorized User in PayMyTution.  Authorized Users can make payments on a plan that their student has set up. Banking information is confidential and only the user will be able to see and access this information. 

You can access the directions through setting up an Authorized User.
