My research interests are in chemical process safety and loss prevention.

Increased emphasis on the prevention of fires and explosions has led to a need for high-quality flammability data covering a wide range of compositions of fuel/oxygen/nitrogen. The purpose of this project is to 1) improve the experimental method for characterization, 2) obtain high quality data and 3) improve theoretical methods for predicting flammability and combustion behavior

The chemical industry has a continuing problem with reactive chemical accidents. This problem is due to the complex nature of chemical reactivity. This research will focus on simplified methods to characterize reactivity that can be readily applied in a chemical plant
