Who is this Certificate For?
This certificate is for qualified professionals who want to enhance their skill set and can be a foundation to continue toward a graduate degree. It is also valuable for degree-seeking students looking to develop a concentration that gives them an edge in their career path.
Mechatronics
The growing use of robotic automation in all sectors of industry is requiring the employment of more and more industrial robotics specialists. Michigan Tech has responded to this high demand with three new professional certificates:
- Industrial Robotics
- Automation and Controls in Mechatronics Systems
- Fluid Power in Mechatronics Systems
Health Informatics
The Michigan Tech Health Informatics certificate programs present opportunities for working professionals and undergraduate students to acquire expertise in several critical, fast-expanding areas of computing and healthcare, while also earning credit towards an MS in Health Informatics. Health Informatics offers four certificates:
- Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
- Foundations of Health Informatics
- Public Health Informatics
- Security and Privacy in Healthcare
HI Certificates are Stackable
Start with the Foundations of Health Informatics certificate and complete two of the three focus-area certificates, below, to earn an MS in Health Informatics. The focus area health informatics certificate programs may be completed in any sequence.
Certificate Admissions
Students who are currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Michigan Tech do not need to formally apply for admission into a certificate program. However, it is recommended that they speak with their advisor before beginning certificate coursework. Graduate-level credits earned at Michigan Tech may be double counted toward both a master's or PhD program and a graduate certificate.
Non-degree seeking students interested in obtaining a graduate certificate must apply using the online application.
International Students must apply and be accepted into a master's or PhD program in order to earn a graduate certificate.
Credit Transfer
A maximum of 1/3 of the coursework credits required for a certificate can be transferred in from another university or from a Michigan Tech undergraduate degree schedule. Graduate-level credits earned at another university can be double counted toward both a master's or PhD program and a graduate certificate. Credits applied toward a certificate must have been earned no more than five years prior to the date on which the certificate will be awarded. Research credits (if required for the certificate) must be earned through Michigan Tech.
