QPR Training

Michigan Tech is thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity to be trained in QPR, a suicide prevention training. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor. Take the step today and become QPR trained.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues. Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

You can take Mental Health First Aid online or in-person. In person traingings are offered a few times each year with limited availability per class. Watch Tech Today for class offerings. Go to Mental Health First Aid's website to find an online class (make sure to filter for open, blended course with virtual-led instruction, and adult).

*There is a participant fee for the class, but free online classes are offered.
