Strengthen decision-making in water resource management.
There is high demand for water resources professionals with in-depth knowledge and experience in modeling and programming through approaches that enhance cost-effective decision-making. The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Tech designed the graduate on-campus and online certificate in Water Resources Modeling to develop your skills in modeling natural and engineered hydraulic and hydrologic systems.
Who is this certificate for?
This certificate is for qualified professionals who want to enhance their skill set and can be a foundation to continue toward a graduate degree. It is also valuable for degree-seeking students looking to develop a concentration that gives them an edge in their career path.
What you’ll learn.
Gain the knowledge and experience you need for system management, analysis, design, and communication while working with data from real-world case studies. Learn to apply model-building skills, including visualization, interpretation, and communication of results, and hone your skills in numerical modeling and simulation for use in natural and engineered systems. You will benefit from an interdisciplinary approach, working closely with a cohort admitted from various areas including the physical sciences, geosciences, computational sciences, and engineering.
- This is a 9-credit certificate program.
- Students will choose three courses from these options: River and Floodplain Hydraulics, Water Resources System Modeling and Design, Water Quality Modeling in Natural Systems, Hydrodynamic Modeling, and Advanced Groundwater Engineering and Remediation.
