COVID-19 Vaccine

The State of Michigan’s COVID-19 vaccination program is well underway. One of the best resources for Western UP vaccine information is the Copper Country Strong website. This web page contains information specific to the Michigan Tech community.

Community Vaccine Clinics at the SDC

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department (WUPHD) will hold mass community vaccination clinics using the Moderna vaccine at Michigan Tech's Student Development Complex (SDC) on April 15 and 29.

WUPHD is scheduling appointments for these and other clinics in the community. To make an appointment, sign up for the WUPHD COVID Vaccine Waitlist.

Those interested in volunteering at the clinics are asked to please contact Brian Cadwell. Volunteers will receive vaccinations if desired.

Many other health care providers and pharmacies in the community are currently offering COVID-19 vaccinations. Information is available online.

Student Vaccine Clinics at the SDC

Michigan Tech is partnering with Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (UGL) to hold vaccine clinics for students April 20-22. The clinics will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the SDC Varsity Gym. Information about scheduling a vaccination clinic appointment will be provided to students via email on Thursday, April 15.

Eligibility

Please review the State of Michigan’s strategy for vaccine prioritization.

As of April 5, all people living in Michigan who are age 16 and up are eligible for vaccination.

If you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, please reach out to any local health care provider—no existing relationship required—for more information and to schedule an appointment.

This section will be updated as additional information becomes available. You may also want to review the vaccine updates that ran in Tech Today on January 26 and March 4.
