Faculty are welcome to attend the commencement ceremonies and are encouraged to participate in the procession, wearing academic regalia. Your participation is meaningful and significant to your students and their guests. The Graduate Student ceremony will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. and the Undergraduate Student ceremony will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.in the John J. MacInnes Student Ice Arena located in the Student Development Complex (SDC).
Faculty may order regalia through The Campus Store. Orders are available for pick up at the campus store buyback window from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during finals week. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with regalia questions.
Both the Graduate Student Commencement rehearsal and the Undergraduate Student Commencement rehearsal will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023. We encourage your attendance, especially if this is the first time you will be participating in a Michigan Tech ceremony. Please come to the Multipurpose Room in the SDC. We will coordinate the procession from the Multipurpose Room to the Ice Arena.
For the Graduate student ceremony please arrive in the Multipurpose Room no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 and for the Undergraduate student ceremony please arrive in the Multipurpose Room no later than 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Please refer to the memo from the commencement committee regarding where you may leave personal belongings.
Thirty minutes before the ceremony begins, the marshals will be invited to the center of the Multipurpose Room for a brief check-in to ensure each department has a marshal and to answer any questions.
Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. No parking pass is required. There is a large number of attendees, so please plan accordingly.

Presentation of Degrees - Ph.D. Advisors
When called, the advisor(s) will walk with their Ph.D. candidate(s) to the stage. The advisor(s) will hood their graduate(s) with assistance from the respective dean. After the hooding, the Ph.D. candidate and the advisor(s) will continue across the stage. The Ph.D. candidate will receive a diploma cover from the University President. The Ph.D. candidate and advisor(s) may then return to their seats for the remainder of the ceremony.

Presentation of Degrees - Undergraduate Marshals
Undergraduate marshals remain seated with their degree candidates until they are invited to approach the stage by the respective dean. The marshals lead their degree candidates to the stage and remain at the stage entrance until all degree candidates have passed. Marshals may then return to their seats for the remainder of the ceremony.
