Case Management

We recognize that sometimes the services available through the university may not meet a student's full needs. In these circumstances, we offer Case Management services to help navigate seeking additional resources. To set up a Case Management appointment, please reach out to your established counselor or email counseling@mtu.edu.

Community Providers

To assist with seeking a mental health provider in the local community, we maintain a list of Local Community Providers.

Navigating Health Insurance Coverage

When selecting an external provider, it may be important to consider if a provider accepts your health insurance plan. One way to do this is to utilize the filter tool on Psychology Today's Find a Therapist site to sort by insurance. You can also check a provider's webpage or contact them to ask.

If you do not have health insurance, Michigan Tech offers a Student Health Insurance option to all students.

For guidance on navigating mental health providers and insurance, you can contact us to request a Case Management appointment with our center.

Release of Information

If you need confidential records from our center released to an external provider or campus partner (such as the Dean of Students office), you will need to complete a release of information form and provide us a written request (usually either by email or fax from the receiving provider). Please contact us if you need any clarification.
