Summer Orientation Family Housing

Welcome to Michigan Tech

Michigan Technological University offers limited on-campus housing for families of students attending Summer Orientation. These accommodations are designed to provide a convenient place to stay during Orientation and differ from traditional conference housing.

Because availability is limited and amenities are minimal, we strongly encourage families to review all information below before making a reservation.

Important Reservation Information

  • Reservations are available for families of Summer Orientation students only.
  • Full suites must be reserved. Individual bedrooms cannot be booked separately.
  • One person is responsible for completing the reservation and payment. 
  • Payment is required in full when reservation is confirmed. Refunds are not issued for any reservations cancelled within 14 days of the reservation start date.
  • Accepted payment methods: Mastercard, Visa, and Discover.
  • May 15, 2026 is the deadline to reserve housing for Summer Orientation.

Hillside

Suite Details and Building Features

Summer Orientation family housing is located in Hillside Place, a modern residence hall on campus.

Each suite includes:

  • Four private bedrooms (one person per bedroom)
  • Two bathrooms (each with a shower)
  • A living room
  • A kitchenette with major appliances only (stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave)

Building features include:

  • Air conditioning throughout the building
  • Elevator access
  • Secure entry with keycard access

Televisions are not provided.

 

Amenities and What to Bring

Summer Orientation housing is offered with very limited amenities.

Please note:

  • No linens are provided (no sheets, pillows, towels, or blankets)
  • No kitchen amenities are provided, including cookware, dishes, glassware, or utensils
  • No concierge services are available

Families should plan to bring all necessary personal items for their stay.

Check-In Information

Key access cards and information packets will be available for pick-up at the Library when your student checks in for Summer Orientation.

Minors Policy

  • Minor children are permitted to stay in Summer Orientation family housing with a parent or legal guardian
  • A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors at all times

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol is not permitted in Summer Orientation family housing at any time during Orientation stays.

Additional Information

Summer Orientation family housing is intended to support short-term stays during Orientation programs and does not include the same amenities or services offered to conference guests.
