Fire Satety: Stove Filter Care
Keeping your stove and filters clean helps prevent grease buildup and reduces fire risk.
Remove the Filters:
- Turn off the fan before removing the filters.
- Slide the filters slightly backward.
- Tilt them downward and gently pull them out.
- Do not use excessive force or bend the filters.
- If the filters do not release, make sure they are slid back far enough.
- Avoid touching the hood vent above the filters, as it may have sharp edges.
Clean the Filters:
- Soak filters overnight in warm water with a mild degreaser (such as dish soap).
- Do not use harsh chemicals (like oven cleaner or strong acids), as they can damage the filters.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Allow filters to dry completely before reinstalling (air drying may take several hours).
Reinstall the Filters:
- Place filters back in the reverse order of removal.
- Ensure they sit flat and secure in their supports.
- Do not leave filters hanging down or pushed too far up, as this can affect fan operation.
Maintenance Tips:
- Clean filters at least once per month (more often with heavy use).
- Clean the stovetop after each use to prevent grease buildup.
- Do not use aluminum foil or other coverings on the range top.
