Michigan Technological University announces the appointment of Andrew Storer as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Storer's appointment comes after an extensive national search chaired by Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Wayne Gersie.

Prior to his appointment as interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, Storer served as dean of the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science at Michigan Tech for the past four years.
“Andrew’s skill set and acumen have served Michigan Tech well,” said Koubek. “His leadership will be invaluable as we advance initiatives that continue to define Michigan Tech’s role as a leader in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Storer joined the Michigan Tech faculty in 2001 and rose to the rank of professor of forest insect ecology. In addition, he served as director of the Honors Institute at Michigan Tech, and as director of graduate studies and associate dean within the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science. His areas of expertise include forest insect ecology, impacts of exotic species on forest ecosystems, and interactions among fire, insects, and disease in forests.
Storer earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Forest Entomology from the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford, and also holds an MA and a BA in Pure and Applied Biology from St. Anne’s College, Oxford. He spent almost 10 years as a research entomologist at the University of California, Berkeley, before joining the faculty at Michigan Tech.
