Graduate study gives you the opportunity to dig deeper into the subjects, questions, and challenges that matter most to you. Michigan Tech offers more than 100 graduate programs, both on-campus and online, which span diverse academic and research disciplines. Whether you are continuing directly from an undergraduate program, building expertise for advancement in your current field, or changing careers and moving into a new area, identifying your interests can help you find the right path.

How do you identify what focus area or discipline that moves you? Think. Recall the courses and topics that captured your attention as an undergraduate, the skills you want to develop, and the kind of work you hope to pursue. You may also want to consider whether you lean more toward theory, application, research, or a combination of these. For career changers, areas of interest can also help you see where your existing experience may connect with a new discipline or specialization.

As part of your application, you’ll be asked to select at least one area of interest. Use the dropdown below to browse academic and research topics by program. These areas reflect current faculty expertise and research activity and can help connect your preferred academic direction with the programs, faculty, and opportunities available at MTU.
