GIS for Natural Resource Management (4 credits)

This course provides students with an introduction to a range of fundamental to intermediate modern GIS concepts and practical skills in spatial visualization and analysis. Students will delve into the details of various GIS components and gain exposure to a variety of real-world datasets, such as those related to counties, states, hydrology, land cover, roads, and elevation

Map Design With GIS (3 credits)

This course familiarizes students with the fundamentals of cartography, ranging from conventional to sophisticated visualization methods, which are instrumental in decision-making processes at various levels. Students will utilize state-of-the-art ArcPro GIS software and ArcGIS Online for map creation and information dissemination.

GPS Field Techniques (2 credits)

This course offers practical experience with diverse GPS units and their various uses. These uses encompass planning, data gathering, data processing, and data administration, with a focus on the practical applications of Global Positioning System technology. Students will employ apps such as ArcGIS FieldMaps, Survey123, and Avenza for data collection, and will process and visualize the data using ArcPro and ArcGIS Online software.
