Academic Tenure
Academic tenure is governed by Board of Trustees Policy 6.4.
Procedures regarding the tenure process are available in Appendix I of the Faculty Handbook.

10/21/21 - Updated to reference Board of Trustees Policy 6.4 as previous language
was verbatim. Also removed the reference to Senate procedure 707.1 as this is also
defined in Board Policy 6.4 and Appendix I.
1/26/2018 - Annual Review: Added the Senate Policy 707.1.1 hyperlink and Reference
section.
12/08/2016 - Annual Review: No changes made to content.
06/03/2015 - To reflect current University titles, "Board of Control" is now "Board
of Trustees".
1/27/2015 - Annual Review: To reflect current practice, the email address for questions

02/06/2014 - Annual Review: Updated Michigan Tech and Handbook banners, no changes
made to content.
03/13/2013 - Annual Review: "Approved by Faculty: January 28, 2004 (The final vote
was 50-4 in favor.), Senate Proposal 13-06: Adopted by Senate on April 5, 2006, Approved
by Administration: April 17, 2006, Passed Referendum: April 14, 2008 (out of 347 possible
voters; there were 111 Yes votes and 17 No votes), and Board Policy 16.4, Approved
by Board: December 12, 2008" now reads "Senate Procedures 707.1.1"
07/13/2011 - Annual Review: To reflect current University titles and practice, MTU
is now Michigan Tech and the email address for questions is now hbwebmaster.
