3D Printing

Guidance
This document provides the updated guidance for the safe use of 3D printing at colleges and universities around the country. CIRI partnered with the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) to produce these guidelines.

Purchasing 3D printer requires EHS approval. 
Please complete a ticket request when you have the following information. 

  1. Location - Building and room number
  2. Anticipated Feedstock SDS - Must have a pdf copy of SDS
  3. Job Hazard Assessment JHA - add this link to the site for an example of a JHA - Job Hazard Assessment Form - MTU

 

The Job Hazard Assessment must be attached to the ticket request.  If you have questions on how to complete a Job Hazard Assessment form please email ehs-support@mtu.edu.

A safety walkthrough of the intended operating location is recommended after the Faculty and department lab staff have familiarized themselves with the operating manual and its operational requirements in creating your Job Hazard Assessment (JHA).
