Biography
Catherine “Cat” Burns joins the Office of Diversity and Inclusion team after previously serving as Michigan Tech’s manager of staff employment and as the chief negotiator and contract administrator for all collective bargaining agreements at the University. In this role, she was responsible for staff employment including union/non-union staff and short-term employees, aiding supervisors and departments in hiring, conflict management, and other employment inquiries.
Since Cat began working at Michigan Tech in 2009, she has dedicated herself to process excellence and improvement. As both a trained Lean Facilitator and Civil Mediator, her commitment to professionalism and excellence is pronounced.
A proud Michigan Tech alumna, Cat earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2003 and her Master of Business Administration in 2015.
She resides in Houghton with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
