Online Course Policy
To ensure the quality of our online programs and courses, Michigan Tech Senate Policy 116.1 requires all instructors and facilitators of online and remote courses to be qualified to teach online. Online Teaching Training and Certification
To become a qualified online instructor, you must complete the following two badge courses:
- Badge 1: Foundations of Course Planning
- Badge 2: Foundations of Online Course Design
Historical Note: The former ED5101: Foundations of Online Teaching course has been converted into these two separate badge courses.
How to Enroll
To register for these two badge courses, please use the link below to complete the sign-up form:
- Important Note: Badge 1 is a prerequisite for Badge 2, so please ensure you enroll in and complete Badge 1 first.
How to Request a Waiver
If you believe you have equivalent prior training in the development, delivery, and assessment of online courses, you may submit your credentials to the Provost's Office. Please refer to the "Procedures" section at the bottom of the Online Course Policy page. All exemptions are subject to approval by the Provost’s Office.
