The Center for Faculty Excellence offers professional development opportunities throughout the academic year to support faculty and instructors at Michigan Tech. Programs address a range of topics related to teaching and learning, instructional technology, career and professional development, research, and other areas of interest to the university community. Events may include workshops, presentations, luncheons, coffee chats, and informal discussions that provide opportunities to learn from campus colleagues and other experts, explore new ideas and resources, and connect with faculty and staff from across the university. Events
Have an idea for a workshop, working session, lunch and learn, or other learning opportunity for faculty? The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) would love to hear from you! We partner with faculty, staff, and campus groups who have knowledge, ideas, or expertise they would like to share with the Michigan Tech teaching community. You bring the content and learning experience; the CFE can help with the event logistics and, when appropriate, funding.
Depending on the event, CFE support may include:

Coordinating event logistics and scheduling
- Assisting with room reservations and event setup
- Supporting registration and attendance tracking
- Providing or helping coordinate food and refreshments
- Promoting the event through CFE communication channels
- Providing funding support when resources are available and the event aligns with CFE priorities
Partnerships can take many forms. Maybe you have a topic you would like to explore with colleagues, a hands-on activity you would like to facilitate, or a conversation that could benefit from bringing faculty together. We are happy to talk through the possibilities with you.
Because CFE resources are limited, proposed events are considered based on their alignment with the Center's mission, vision, and current priorities, as well as available resources and capacity. Submitting an idea does not guarantee that the CFE will be able to support or host the event.

CFE Newsletter
The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) publishes a newsletter every other Wednesday to share information, opportunities, events, resources, and services relevant to Michigan Tech faculty. Campus partners are welcome to submit faculty development and support focused content for consideration in the CFE newsletter, including:
- Articles and announcements: Submitted articles and announcements will be considered for inclusion in the CFE newsletter. Articles may also be considered for publication on the CFE Blog.
- Events: Workshops, presentations, training, professional development, and other events relevant to faculty.
- Faculty services and opportunities: Resources, programs, consultations, initiatives, professional opportunities, and other faculty-focused offerings.
How to Submit
Submit your complete, publication-ready content by email to jelhendr@mtu.edu.
Please include all necessary:
- Final text
- Event details and registration information, when applicable
- Links
- Graphics or images
- Other materials needed for publication
Campus partners are responsible for obtaining any required organizational or departmental approval before submitting content. CFE staff cannot develop content or create graphics on behalf of submitting partners.
Publication Schedule and Deadlines
The newsletter is published every other Wednesday. For an item to be considered for a specific issue, complete content should be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the preceding Friday.
Note: The CFE publication schedule may be adjusted around university holidays and academic breaks. Additional publication dates will be provided as the calendar is finalized. Late submissions may be included as time allows, but inclusion in a particular newsletter is not guaranteed.
