- Click Stop to stop scanning the surface. Make sure it says “Engage” in the Sum and
Deflection Panel. If not, click Withdraw.
- Make sure that the Video Monitor is open. If it is not open, Click on the camera icon
on the bottom toolbar.
- Open the enclosure door.
- While watching the video monitor, raise the AFM head until there are a few millimeters
of clearance between the specimen and cantilever.
- Using both hands, carefully place the AFM head upside down on the head stand.
- Press the release button on the head and gently lift the cantilever holder up, pulling
the screw side up first and completely removing it from the AFM head.
- Mount the cantilever holder onto the loading stand, making sure the screws on the
cantilever holder are facing toward the lever on the loading stand.
- Press down on the lever and align the back of the holder with the mounting pins. Press
the back into place first and then the front.
- A lot of force does not need to be applied when loading it onto the stand.
- Using the screwdriver, loosen the top center screw on the cantilever holder.
- Remove the cantilever from the cantilever holder.
- Remove the specimen from the stage.
- Close and lock the Enclosure Door.
- Close the AFM Software.
- Turn OFF the AFM Controller.
- Turn OFF the Fiber Light.
- Sign out of the log book.
