Work With Us

The Institute of Materials Processing (IMP) serves as a bridge between industry, academia, and the next generation of innovators.

Industry and Government

Through collaborative research partnerships, industry and government sponsors can access Michigan Tech’s expertise, state-of-the-art facilities, and customized solutions to address real-world materials and manufacturing challenges. Industry and government are invited to inquire about the use of our processing facilities for small-batch material processing and/or proof of concept experiments. External use rates for equipment will apply, as well as external funding agreement with the Vice President for Research Office. Industry may also sponsor student projects at the PhD, MS, senior-capstone design, or under graduate project levels.

Resources

Students

Undergraduate and graduate students gain valuable hands-on experience by participating in cutting-edge research projects, internships, and industry-sponsored initiatives that prepare them for successful careers.

Faculty, Staff, and Researchers

Faculty, staff, and researchers engage in multidisciplinary collaborations that have practical implications in industry, advance scientific discovery, and secure external funding.

Together, industry and government partners, students, faculty, staff, and researchers create a dynamic ecosystem that drives innovation, workforce development, and economic growth while advancing the future of materials science, processing, and manufacturing technologies.
