Summer Programs Guest Amenities Information
Guest wireless is available on all existing wireless access points. This service is only for unregistered users; individuals already associated with the MichiganTech wireless will be unable to join.
- Turn on the wireless service on your device and connect to MichiganTechGuest wireless SSID.
- Open your web browser. You should automatically be redirected.
- Follow on screen instructions to read and accept the Terms of Service Agreement. You should now be connected to the network.

Fitness facilities featuring weightlifting and aerobic exercise equipment are located on the first floor of Hillside Place. You may use your access card to tap into this area.
Additionally, the Student Development Complex (SDC) and surrounding outdoor recreation areas feature a fitness center, ice arena, multipurpose room with climbing wall, racquetball and squash courts, dance and fitness studio, swimming pool and dive tank, Gates Tennis Center, mountain biking trails, and more. Information regarding hours of operation and day pass pricing can be accessed by calling 906-487-2578 or through their website.
Laundry facilities are available in the residence halls for all guests to use. Washing machines are free to use; Using the dryers costs $.25 per cycle and each cycle lasts 10 minutes. Guests will need to bring their own laundry detergent and fabric softener.
Guests who are residing on the Michigan Tech campus may request to use meeting rooms free of charge. There are multiple rooms available throughout the residence halls. Rooms should be requested in advance to guarantee room availability. Meeting room reservations for guests can be made by calling (906) 487-2682 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
All summer program participants are required to have an identification card while residing at Michigan Tech. Participants must keep their identification card with them at all times. A $10 fee is charged for the identification card. This card is also used for building access.
These cards can be picked up from the Wadsworth Hall Reception Desk or the Michigan Tech Housing office during normal business hours.
Outside of normal business hours, keys can be picked up at Public Safety and Police Services.
Michigian Tech Police
The Department of Public Safety and Police Services at Michigan Tech is staffed by trained, certified state of Michigan police officers who have full law enforcement authority (including the power of arrest) throughout Houghton County. The department is staffed and operates twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.

Michigan Tech is conveniently located within the city of Houghton, Michigan. Stores and Restaurants are within walking distance from campus.
The City of Houghton operates a bus route with convenient stops on campus and in town. For information regarding route times, bus stop locations, and prices, visit their website.
Michigan Tech has partnered with Zipcar to bring selfservice, on demand car sharing to the area. To use Zipcars, simply register as a member, reserve a car online or by phone, use your Zipcard to enter the car, and drive away. When you are done, return the car to the reserved Zipcar parking space in front of the Memorial Union Building, Wadsworth Hall, or Daniel Heights Apartments. More information can be found here.
