Our mission is to cost-effectively manage energy resources purchased and consumed by the university. The objective is to optimize energy usage, striking a balance between minimizing consumption and ensuring the comfort of building occupants, all while providing the energy needed for cutting-edge research to solve global challenges.

Goal 1: Operate the Central Energy Plant safely.

Goal 2: Provide reliable steam supply throughout the year.

Goal 3: Provide reliable back-up electrical power to campus within 90 seconds of an outage.

Goal 4: Maintain condensate trap maintenance program that ensures at least 95% of the 1200 traps on campus remain in service at all times.

Goal 5: Support the Campus Master Plan and ensure future energy needs are met as Michigan Tech grows.

Goal 6: Purchase and deliver utilities to Michigan Tech in a cost effective, responsible, and safe manner.

Goal 7: Support sustainability efforts on campus, including waste and energy reduction, recycling and reuse.

8. Manage the energy rebate program to allow for reinvestment of funds to do more energy saving projects.
