Biography

Nicholas Stevens was appointed as Associate Vice President for Finance in May of 2025 and is responsible for all financial functions of the University and the Michigan Tech Fund; including financial reporting, budget development, financial projections,  investment and treasury management, bond issuance, procurement, property management, insurance program management, overseeing all accounting functions and audits conducted by external auditors. Most recently Nick served as the Treasurer to the Board of Trustees and Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Administration from May 2023 through May 2025 where he was overseeing the areas of finance, administration, institutional research, facilities, and information technology. Prior to this, Nick served as the director of budget and financial planning from 2019-2023, after advancing through several positions in the budget and planning office.

Mr. Stevens has 20 years of leadership and management experience in higher education. At Michigan Tech, he implemented a Long-Range planning software allowing for 5-7 year financial outlooks to model complex combinations of strategic initiatives. Additionally, he led an auxiliary fund review that provided the framework for a  true full revenue/expense financial structure. Prior to joining Tech in 2015, Stevens served in both accounting and administrative roles in the private education sector.

Mr. Stevens serves as a Director on the Michigan Tech Fund Board, as well as a member of the Universities Benefits Advisory Group.
