New Faculty Onboarding

Welcome to Michigan Tech! We are excited that you will be joining us as a member of the faculty and are committed to helping you grow and thrive in your new role. Please review the information below to learn about our programs for new faculty. You will also find resources that may be helpful to you as you get started. New Faculty Orientation

Orientation takes place over the first four days that new faculty are on contract, August 17-20, 2026. Orientation is required for all new faculty. 

  • Monday: Human Resources
  • Tuesday: University Overview
  • Wednesday: Teaching Workshop
  • Thursday: New Researcher Day

Extended New Faculty Orientation

The extended orientation is held weekly during the fall semester, from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesdays. The orientation meetings are required, so new faculty should not schedule any meetings at this time. While 2026 agenda items are finalized, you are welcome to view the 2025 schedule to learn more about the topics that are discussed. 

 

New Faculty Mentoring

All new full time permanent tenure track and instructional track faculty are assigned a mentoring committee that meets six times throughout the faculty member’s first year. For more information:
