The following are a few of the major construction and renovations projects recently completed on campus.
East Hall
Completed: August 2025
This 126,000 square-foot residence hall serves as a gateway to Michigan Technological University. With a focus on modern and sustainable features, the design and architecture of the residence hall features a vibrant and eco-friendly living space. The integration of technology will further enhance the overall experience, providing state-of-the-art amenities and facilities. The project, aligned with Michigan Tech's focus on responsible environmental design is on track for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification.
East Hall will increase student housing, ensuring that 516 more Huskies can pursue their education within this thriving community. East Hall aims to provide a comfortable and enriching living environment that brings about economic and social benefits for the greater community, fostering a sense of unity and progress.
H-STEM Engineering and Health Technologies Complex
Completed: February 2024
Michigan Tech's H-STEM Complex, a new state-of-the-art facility built to advance interdisciplinary research and education in health-related STEM fields, is a 3-story building addition on the east side of the Chemical Sciences and Engineering building. It includes newly constructed, shared and flexible laboratory spaces, co-located with renovated classrooms and learning spaces within the existing building. H-STEM Complex permits teams of researchers and students from the University's various engineering and health sciences departments to work together in collaborative spaces with shared equipment. The $53 million project is a joint effort, with the state of Michigan providing $29.7 million, and Michigan Tech contributing the rest. Read More
Keweenaw Research Center (KRC) Test Support Building
Completed: July 2025
New facility for KRC vehicle testing and maintenance.
Dow Elevator Addition
Completed: January 2025
To increase accessibility, the addition of an elevator to the north side of the Dow Environmental Sciences & Engineering building has been installed. The new addition is accessible inside the Portage side of the building.
McNair Dining Hall Remodel
Completed: August 2024
The Eatery at McNair Hall underwent a complete renovation. Some exciting new additions
include:
•Pitco fryers, Southbend grills, and an Electrolux panini press to enhance our cooking
capabilities.
•A Vulcan tilt skillet and a walk-in freezer for greater efficiency in our kitchen
operations.
•A brand-new chef’s table area designed for teaching kitchens.
•Updates to improve accessibility, including enhanced elevator access and a new hallway
leading to the main entrance.

Psy-HF Renovation at M&M Building
Completion Date: May 2025
The east portion of M&M building 3rd and 4th floors wer renovated for the Psychology and Human Factors department. The new space unites the activities of the Psychology and Human Factors community under one roof, providing a dedicated space to departmental offices and lab spaces.
Classroom Renovations
Michigan Tech has started renovating classrooms, lecture halls and laboratories throughout campus. The renovation program for classrooms and classroom laboratories was identified during the Campus Master Planning process and prioritized to take place during the first phase of master plan implementation.
