Carpentry

The department employs one carpenter who is supported by building maintenance staff to provide general carpentry services. The University’s carpenter is trained and licensed in applicable building codes.

Staff provides these services across campus, performing work in residence halls, laboratories, classrooms, kitchens, and similar spaces. The carpenter performs a variety of maintenance and installation services, including, but  not limited to the following:

  • Interior/exterior windows
  • Interior/exterior doors
  • Millwork, such as chair rails, trim and molding
  • Furniture, furnishings, and fixtures
  • Cabinetry and countertops
  • Walls and ceilings

If you need assistance with carpentry-related services, please submit a work request. Work requests will typically be reviewed by department staff within 24 hours. With the exception of safety and security concerns, work orders are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Typical hours of operation for maintenance staff are from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Proposals and requests for new installations or building improvements should follow the University’s Capital Project Planning Process, including a review by staff in Engineering Services. When submitting requests for new installations or infrastructure improvements, please provide a minimum of 3-4 weeks in advance notice to ensure that resources can be allocated to support the proposed improvements.
