Laboratory safety in Department of Materials Science and Engineering is of the utmost importance.

It is the goal of the department to eliminate situations that can cause personal injury or damage to the environment, campus, community, and property.

The Department Safety Manual details steps to minimize risk and prevent damaging incidents, establishes Standard Operating Procedures, and provides a course of action in the event of an emergency. Students, staff, and faculty of the department are is responsible for understanding the department's safety protocols and following all laboratory safety policies.
