Snapchat focuses on short-lived content, with most posts only lasting 24 hours if posted to a Snapchat Story. Users send disappearing photos and videos (Snaps) enhanced with filters and effects. Snapchat’s interactive and disappearing content appeals to younger audiences, offering Michigan Tech a fun, immersive way to highlight the student experience through a “Day in the Life of a Husky” approach.
MTU uses Snapchat to engage primarily with current and prospective students by sharing behind-the-scenes and day-in-the-life content, as well as live event coverage. The content that gets posted on Snapchat only stays live for a 24-hour window. Snapchat accounts are reserved for specific campus entities, departments, and programs.
