The Transportation Human Factors Lab at Michigan Technological University applies human factors engineering principles to understand and improve how people interact with vehicles and transportation systems. Our goal is to design transportation technologies and environments around human capabilities, limitations, and behavior to improve safety and mobility.
Our research examines driver behavior, vulnerable road users, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and human interaction with autonomy. Using driving simulation and on-road naturalistic data, we study how people perceive, understand, and respond to increasingly complex transportation systems.
Ultimately, our work seeks to inform the design of safer vehicles, technologies, and transportation systems by keeping the human at the center of transportation innovation.
