Appendix A—Limitations on Right to Inspect Records

The following records are excluded from the FERPA definition of education records:

1. Parental financial information.
2. Confidential letters and recommendations to which the student has waived his/her right of inspection.
3. Educational records containing information about more than one student. The university must permit access to that part of the record which pertains only to the inquiring student.
