What does it mean to be a Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholar?
Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholars are students at selected universities in Michigan with unique access to events, programming, and scholarships related to careers in the EV and mobility tech industry. Specific programs vary by campuses and generally include seminars, networking events, and internships with Michigan companies focused on electric vehicles and mobility tech.

2023-2024 EV Scholars:
- are interested in a career as an Electrical Engineer or Software Developer.
- are undergraduate students with a declared, or intent to declare, a relevant major (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science).
- want to learn more about the EV and mobility tech industry.
- agree to participate in all of the required EV Scholars activities.
For fall 2023 scholarships, the EV & Mobility Tech Scholar must receive and accept a job offer as an Electrical Engineer or Software Developer with a participating employer in Michigan on or after September 1, 2023.
EV & Mobility Tech scholarships are awarded to students accepting internships or jobs with participating employers on a first come first serve basis. Specifically:
- $5,0001 will be awarded to junior-level students who accept an internship with an EV & Mobility Tech Scholars core employer in Michigan and commit to completing the full internship.
- $10,0001 will be awarded to senior-level students who accept a full time position with an EV & Mobility Tech Scholars core employer in Michigan and commit to remaining in the role for one year.
- Seniors who received a previous $5,000 award as a junior are eligible to receive an additional $5,0001 scholarship if they accept a full time position with an EV & Mobility Tech Scholars core employer in Michigan and commit to remaining in the role for one year.

In general, Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholars students will:
- manage their job application and interview process directly with the employer. (The EV & Mobility Tech Scholars program does not facilitate the actual job application process.)
- formally accept the job or internship offer with the employer.
- report acceptance of the offer to the Michigan Tech Career Services office and the EV & Mobility Tech Scholars program coordinator.
- sign a Letter of Intent stating acceptance of the role and the intent to meet the scholarship's requirements.
Once the above steps are completed, funds will be disbursed (on a first come first serve basis) through the University's scholarship office.

Exact timing should be clarified with the Michigan Tech scholarship office, but typically once your eligibility has been verified through the process outlined above, Michigan Tech will disburse the funds to your student account as quickly as possible.
Yes. Seniors who received a $5,000 scholarship as a junior are eligible for an additional $5,0001 award if they accept a second internship or a full time role with a Michiganders EV & Mobility Tech Scholars core employer. The offer may be from the employer they interned with, or from another participating employer.

A student may receive up to $10,0001, either through a single scholarship or through two scholarships of $5,0001 each.

As long as the accepted job or internship is 1) with a Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholars core employer, 2) located in the state of Michigan, and 3) in an Electrical Engineer or Software Developer position, the job or internship is eligible for the scholarship.
The core employer group of companies with operations in Michigan have been critical partners in designing the Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholars program. These employers have committed to investing resources towards the future of the automotive industry (including EV and Mobility Tech), thus not every role will be immediately applicable to EV & Mobility Tech.
Yes. International students are welcome and encouraged to participate in Michigander EV & Mobility Tech Scholars program. Eligibility to apply for individual internships and full time positions will be dependent on individual employers.
