Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Grants

The Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Tech Forward initiative seeks proposals from university researchers that will advance its mission. Proposals from faculty and/or staff with relevant interests and expertise across all university units are welcomed and encouraged.

What is Advanced Materials and Manufacturing at Michigan Tech?

We are a team of approximately 7,300 students, of which 85% are enrolled in STEM disciplines and 65% are in engineering.

Faculty and students from 6 colleges and 22 academic departments collectively contribute to the understanding, development, and talent pipeline for advanced materials and manufacturing.

We are renowned for our capabilities in material processing, including the manufacturing science of metals, ceramics, polymers, concrete, wood products, and composites.

We use data-driven and machine-learning approaches to address the challenges of tomorrow including energy stewardship, resource scarcity, biodiversity loss, and environmental protection.

We enjoy a positive, ongoing relationship with the global manufacturing infrastructure, contributing talent in engineering, the sciences, and computational technologies. In return, Michigan Tech receives substantial support in the form of high student placement, sponsorship of student projects and research, and advisory board participation.
