What We Do
Portions of the Swedetown Trails are heavily infested with invasive glossy buckthorn (Frangula alnus), which is preventing forest regeneration, degrading native habitat, and diminishing the quality of this cherished local trail system. In partnership with the Swedetown Trails Club, we are working to restore the health of the forest one step at a time, and we could really use your help!
“Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities” events are regularly scheduled, family-friendly, educational volunteer events open to anyone interested in making a difference. Volunteers will help remove buckthorn using a variety of control methods, including hand-pulling, root wrenches, cutting, trimming, and hauling debris for disposal and burning at the end of the day.
We hope you’ll join us!
