2025-26 College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) Credit Guide

For Students Entering Michigan Tech during the 2025-26 Academic Year

CLEP tests are appropriate for returning adult students, graduating high school seniors, and currently enrolled college students.

CLEP subject examination credit may not be earned if the student has credit for the course or was/is currently enrolled in the course.

Students who participate in the CLEP General Examination will receive no advanced placement credit. Students who participate in selected CLEP Subject Examinations and earn at least a minimum acceptable score will receive the following credit.

*Students scoring a 50 or higher on both economics tests will receive 3 credits for EC 1XXX, approved credit, and EC 2001 for 3 credits.

Please note: At this time, Michigan Tech does not accept CLEP scores for modern language credit or placement. However, students who have taken CLEP exams and/or high school coursework in German and Spanish and want to continue are encouraged to take our free modern language placement test to determine placement in our language courses. Placement credits are available upon successful completion of an intermediate or advanced language class at Michigan Tech.
