Mechanical Engineering Technology

Less theory, more problem solving.

Mechanical engineering technology is a great fit for students looking for a hands-on approach to mechanical engineering. You’ll bridge the theoretical world of the engineer and the practical approach of the skilled workforce. Focus your studies on computer-aided engineering, fluids and power systems, or manufacturing.

Apply what you’re learning right away—more than 70 percent of courses have a lab. Redesign a wood chipper chute for Barko and Pettibone to improve the discharge distance. Use the state-of-the-art machining, welding, and fabrication laboratory that includes a Fortus 400 MC 3D printer, MIG and TIG welding equipment, a fifty-ton hydraulic press, metal shears, CNC vertical machining center and lathe, and a CNC plasma cutter. Gain business management skills and budget for projects. Learn from faculty members who have extensive industrial experience in facilities and production planning, manufacturing, and product design. You can also earn a master's in one additional year through our Accelerated Master's program. Prepare for a hands-on career in engineering—our program has a 100 percent job placement rate.

"I enjoy being able to learn with my hands." Hunter Ashton, Mechanical Engineering Technology
