Wednesday - Great Lakes Research Center Director Guy Meadows will testify Thursday morning before the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries and Coast Guard. The topic of the hearing is "Coast Guard Readiness: How Far Can We Stretch our Nation's Only Multi-Mission Military Force?" The subcommittee is examining the Coast Guard's role in preparation and response to national disasters, as well as drug enforcement, icebreaking, safety of navigation, oil spill response and non-maritime emergency response. The hearing will be live streamed at www.commerce.senate.gov.
