When you're an incoming student to Michigan Tech, it's easy to feel alone. Our Guides
program aims to solve that issue by assigning all incoming students to a current Thompson
Scholar Guide. After cohorts are finalized for the incoming year, each student fills
out a form to identify their major, interests, and expectations for their guide. Then,
our staff matches students with guides based on shared majors and interests.
Not only do incoming student receive valuable mentorship alongside Michigan Tech's ExSel program, but our guides receive experience in mentoring students, networking with other guides, and targeted training for life skills. Guides also earn service hours through
