 Michigan Tech's Transfer House

Welcome to the Transfer House, part of student housing operated by Residence Education and Housing Services at Michigan Technological University.

Located at 21610 Woodland Rd., the Transfer House (formerly known as ICE House) offers you the convenience of being close to campus. Utilities such as cable, internet, phone, heat, water, refuse, sewer, electricity, and laundry are all included in your monthly rent.

The Transfer House is a gender inclusive house with each student having a shared bedroom. Updated in summer 2013, the house offers new flooring throughout, an updated kitchen, dining room with table and chairs, updated bathrooms, and furnished living room with television. Entrance to the house is controlled by a punch code and each bedroom has a keyed locking door.

Furnishings - Bedroom

Each student has an extra long (80”) twin bed, chest of drawers, desk, desk chair, and  wastebasket. A wardrobe (bedroom 1) and closet (bedrooms 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) are also provided.

The standard double room measures 12' X 15' and includes two loftable beds, two chests of drawers, two desks, two study chairs, a wastebasket, and carpeting. Each room has either a closet or two armoires. Triple and quad rooms are furnished accordingly. All furniture must remain in your room at all times. House Description

This is a two story house with an additional basement. When you enter the main entrance on the first floor, the kitchen is located to the left. Traveling clockwise through the galley style kitchen, the dining room and living room are available before returning to the main entrance. To the right of the main entrance is a storage closet, bathroom, and stair access to the basement below or the second floor above.

Taking the stairs to the "walk out" basement, you will find a great room with an additional bathroom and a small bar area. To the left of the stairs is a storage utility space with on-site laundry. A small office is under the stars for the house manager.

From the first floor entrance, you can go upstairs to access all of the bedrooms. There are two bedrooms at the top of the first landing. The second bedroom includes a private bathroom. At the top of the second landing is access to the third bedroom. It includes a private bathroom. At the top of the stairs are three additional bedrooms. The two bedrooms to the left do not have their own private bath, but share a bathroom in the hallway. The final bedroom to the right includes it's own private bath.
