Course schedule and requirements will be reviewed at the info session. Twelve (12) students will be selected to participate in the EMT course. All course fees will be waived upon successful course completion and membership with Michigan Tech EMS.
About the EMT Program:
Students will complete 184 classroom hours that covers basic life support training for pre-hospital emergency medical care. Topic areas include: legal and ethical issues, anatomy and physiology, medical and trauma patient assessment, behavioral emergencies, obstetrics/gynecology, geriatric and pediatric patients, lifting and moving patients, and emergency services operations.
Students will also complete a minimum of 40 clinical hours with Mercy EMS and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
Upon successful completion of the Michigan Tech Emergency Medical Technician program, students will be trained to a level that meets or exceeds the National Standards Curriculum and the State of Michigan Education requirements.
