Researchers of the ChARM lab

Contact

ChARM is part of the Microanalytical Shared Facility overseen by the Vice President for Research Office. Michael Gretz is the founding director of ChARM, overseeing gas chromatography, inductively coupled mass spectrometry, and general microscopy equipment. Lynn Mazzoleni extended the mass spectrometry capabilities of ChARM by securing National Science Foundation funds for an Orbitrap Elite mass spectrometer and associated equipment. She also relocated her research LCQ Fleet MS instrument and liquid chromatograph to ChARM for shared use. Sangyoon Han joined the team to extend the microscopy capabilities with major upgrades to the confocal microscope.

Zhimon Song is responsible for general laboratory management, operation, and maintenance of the 2d-LC and ultrahigh resolution Orbitrap Elite MS and LC/MS instruments, and associated equipment in ChARM to benefit users from multiple disciplines on- and off-campus. In addition to managing the laboratory, Zhimin assists in the design of analytical strategies, training users, conducting data analysis, and generating reports. A portion of Zhimin's time is available for advanced research tasks on a project-by-project basis; salary support is required for non-routine duties.
