The minor in economics offered through the School of Business and Economics is meant to supplement a technical and specialized degree. It provides depth and additional analytical skills to a university education and an expanded understanding of the roles of decision makers in an economy and in governments of an economy. Additionally, the minor in economics serves as a strong background for professional degrees such as the MBA, law, and actuarial science.
Program Requirements
Our economics minor program gives you the opportunity to become acquainted with basic concepts and more advanced topics in economics. The economics minor requires 18 credit hours of economics courses in addition to the regular requirements for a bachelor of science degree at Michigan Tech. The 18 credit hours are split into 9 credit hours of principles and theory economics courses and 9 credit hours of economics electives.
